We’ve partnered with the American Heart Association and AmeriCorps to host a HeartCorps member!
The HeartCorps member will work as part of SOAR’s Healthy Communities Blueprint pillar to improve heart health by working side-to-side with health centers, community organizations, and health departments across Eastern Kentucky.
We are seeking full-time service members to support this work starting September 25, 2023.
Why HeartCorps
According to the American Heart Association, nearly half of all Americans have high blood pressure, and many don’t know they have it. Uncontrolled high blood pressure is a silent killer that causes unnecessary and inequitable disease, disability, and death, robbing us of precious time with loved ones. It can cause heart attacks, heart failure, stroke, and other devastating conditions.
In rural communities, these numbers are much higher. Rural areas in Eastern Kentucky have some of the highest death rates due to hypertension.
