Morehead, KY. – Rajant Corporation has purchased a one-acre tract of land in Morehead to construct a new, permanent manufacturing facility.
Bob Schena, Rajant CEO, made the announcement Oct. 9, at the third annual Supplier Education and Economic Development (SEED) Contracting Symposium, held at the Morehead Conference Center.
The event provides Eastern Kentucky manufacturing companies the opportunity to meet with some of the largest federal government contractors in the country to learn how they can become certified to make products that are in high demand for the military and other companies.
Rajant provides secure wireless telecommunication equipment through wireless nodes, network management tools, antennas and power accessories.
The company does business in 57 countries and contracts with the gas industry, the Department of Defense and the NFL, among others. Products for these customers are now assembled in Morehead.
The Morehead office at 707 E. Main Street employs 24 and signed a lease agreement for its current building in March 2015. Rajant moved into the building in June 2015 after improvements to the facility.
Schena did not specify where the land for the new building is located.
Rajant will have invested between $12 million and $15 million in the local economy within the next few years, Schena said.
During his address to SEED participants, Schena said Congressman Hal Rogers is the primary reason Rajant has an office in eastern Kentucky.
Rogers gave the opening remarks and introduced Schena at the contracting symposium.
Also a speaker was Gov. Matt Bevin who touted the state’s economic development successes.
“There is not a state in America that can get you to ‘yes’ or ‘no’ more quickly,” Bevin told the contractors.
