MOREHEAD, Ky. – Brandy Esham has been named a Business and Innovation Champion of SOAR Innovation. She will serve Lee, Powell, Wolfe, Menifee, Morgan, Elliott, Rowan, Bath, Nicholas, Robertson, Fleming, and Lewis counties.  Esham will work out of an office at the Morehead State University Launchpad in Morehead, Ky.

SOAR Innovation is a new partnership between Shaping Our Appalachian Region, Inc. (SOAR) and the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development’s KY Innovation office.  SOAR Innovation will assist existing small businesses and entrepreneurs whose business or idea has the capability to expand existing markets or create new markets by leveraging technology.

“Brandy has demonstrated experience with technology and digital marketing,” said Ryan Jones, director of SOAR Innovation. “She grew up in the region she will be serving, and she truly believes that the utilization of technology is a core component to the transformation we envision at SOAR Innovation.”

Esham comes to SOAR Innovation from Maysville Community and Technical College where she worked as a marketing and public relations specialist.

“I am thrilled to be working alongside a team of individuals dedicated to assisting small businesses and entrepreneurs,” said Esham, a Bath County native and FAA-licensed drone pilot. “Eastern Kentucky is home to many thriving small businesses that have the ability to expand markets and create new markets by leveraging technology.  Our region is also home to entrepreneurs that have innovative ideas.  I’m looking forward to deploying SOAR Innovation’s network of services throughout the region.”

Esham earned her undergraduate degree in strategic communication from Morehead State University in 2014.

As a Business and Innovation Champion, Esham will work throughout his service area to identify and build relationships with existing small businesses that have the desire and capacity to scale-up utilizing technology through methods of e-commerce, export, etc.
