How it All Works

You may be thinking where do I begin? You’ve come across our website and aren’t sure what to do next? Don’t worry, you are in the right place! We will go step by step on how to get the most out of the Eastern Kentucky Job Board and our supportive programs. 

The Interest Form

The interest form will be your first step to accessing our free services & personalized job search by filling out your contact information and uploading your resume. Please only submit PDF or Word Document files; this is also the rule of thumb for applying for jobs too. 

Hiring managers and (Application Tracking Systems) ATS will throw out applications that aren’t in those two formats. If you need assistance with uploading or converting your resume into a PDF/Word Document, please contact our Digital Navigator, Ashley Smith, who assists with all things computer skills at ashley@soar-ky.org!

Once you have filled out the form, you’re in! Within 1-2 business days, an Office of Jobs staff member will be reaching out to you via email, phone, or text to get to know you better and what types of jobs you are interested in. Don’t worry, if you want to explore career options and pathways, that is okay! We want to help you find the perfect job that fits your needs and experiences. 

Did you know that job seekers are 2.9 times more likely to get an interview by having a professional certification on your resume?  We offer multiple, free training programs through the Office of Jobs, such as:

• Code Kentucky is a 6 month training program designed for Eastern Kentuckians to start their career in the technology industry. Students can learn Web Development, Software Development, and Data Analytics skills and obtain a certification after completing the program, and even get the opportunity to present your capstone project to hiring employers!
  
• Generation is a 9 week program designed to train successful Software as a Service (SaaS) sales representatives, with no prior experience in sales needed. The internship is $20 per hour, working 45 hours per week, and Generation provides assistance with resumes, job applications, mentor support, and employer connections after completing the internship.
  
• Digital Skilling & Certifications Services: The Office of Jobs provides personalized appointments for your computer needs, such as learning how to do basic skills and earning certifications for standard office-life, like Microsoft and Excel.

Not receiving job alerts? On the Job Board, click “Create job alert” and select what types of jobs you want to apply for and any postings will be sent directly to your inbox.

Get Referred

So you have successfully applied for a job on the Eastern Kentucky Job Board, what now? Let us know! We want to hear if you apply to one of our partner companies, and we can directly forward your resume to them. This step is crucial and not completing it could put other’s applications above yours, so don’t miss out on getting a step ahead!
