On October 7, WECTEC Staffing Services, a subsidiary of Westinghouse Electric Company, will return to Eastern Kentucky for a regional hiring event hosted by SOAR’s EKY Talent Network and Hazard Community and Technical College.
Earlier this year, Westinghouse/WECTEC held a hiring event in Ashland.
Now they’re coming back.
That matters because employers don’t return unless they believe they’ve found something worth investing in.
In this case, that something is the people of Eastern Kentucky.

SOAR has partnered with six KCTCS colleges (Ashland, Big Sandy, Hazard, Maysville, Somerset, and Southeastern Kentucky) to create a Nuclear Outage Training Program designed specifically to prepare individuals for careers in the nuclear energy industry.
Thanks to support from the GitLab Foundation and the Kentucky Nuclear Energy Development Authority, eligible participants can access this training at no cost after completing an assessment.
But here’s what makes this program different.
- This isn’t training for training’s sake.
- This isn’t a certificate that gets framed and forgotten.
- This is training connected directly to employers.
Participants gain technical skills. They receive support from the EKY Talent Network team. They build relationships with employers. And they enter a workforce pipeline designed to lead to employment opportunities.
The goal isn’t simply to complete a program. The goal is to build a career.
