Community Staples Join Together, Re-brand Appalachian Wireless Arena

Posted on 6 years ago

PIKEVILLE, KY. – The building formerly known as the East Kentucky Expo Center is now operating under a new name, with a new box office.

City officials announced the renaming in April, following re-branding efforts by the city. The newly named Appalachian Wireless Arena brought in corporate sponsor Appalachian Wireless, which previously sponsored the center’s box office. Appalachian Wireless is a Unity Partner of SOAR.

Now, the Appalachian Wireless Arena’s box office is sponsored by Community Trust Bank, bringing three local staples together in one place. Community Trust Bank is an East Kentucky Partner of SOAR.

Both the center and its box office hosted ribbon-cutting ceremonies Monday, after announcing the new partnership to the public.

Those involved say this new era for the city is not only expected to benefit the companies but the community as well.

“We’re also hopeful that it’s a good community builder, in the sense that it allows the Expo Center to bring bigger and better shows to the region. Which, in turn, benefits the people of Eastern Kentucky,” said Appalachian Wireless Marketing Manager Ashley Litteral.

He said it’s all about the community.

“We’re big community supporters and we felt like this was a great fit for that purpose,” Litteral said.

Representatives from the arena said they are looking forward to the changes.

“We’re excited to have both sponsors,” said marketing director Josh Kesler. “You throw us in the mix with Community Trust Bank and Appalachian Wireless and it’s great. It’s harmony.”

Kesler said he hopes the partnership will bring in more shows and entertainment for the community to enjoy.

Appalachian Wireless is a Unity partner of SOAR, and Community trust bank is an East Kentucky partner of SOAR.
