The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) announced $33.5 million for 12 collaborative, multi-state projects to drive large-scale economic transformation through its Appalachian Regional Initiative for Stronger Economies (ARISE) program.
The announcements, made on October 29, include four projects that include Kentucky’s 54 Appalachian counties.
- $10 million to the Appalachian Service Project to establish a natural disaster recovery and home rebuild network
- $500,000 to Appalachian Regional Healthcare (ARH) to create a health task force and pilot programs for mobile healthcare.
- $500,000 to Teach for America to expand a recruitment and retention model for educators
- $120,806 to Northern State Community College to build a network for aviation industry education.
In addition to these grants, the American Association of Community Colleges received $10 million to create a network for cybersecurity workforce development.
