PINEVILLE, Ky. – The Appalachian Wildlife Foundation, a Blueprint Partner of SOAR, announced an addition to the planned wildlife reserve that will include an open-air petting zoo.
The 12,000-acre site in Bell County is home to an abundant wildlife community, including, bear, elk, and bobcats. A visitor’s center is under construction and will feature a restaurant gift shop, artisan hall, and artisan center.
The center plans to open in 2021 and will attract 850,000 people a year and an estimated $175 million economic impact. The project aligns with SOAR’s Regional Blueprint goals of establishing Appalachia Kentucky as a tourism destination and small business.
