Slope Masters is an Idea Born out of the Ingenuity of Miners

Posted on 6 years ago

The downturn of the coal industry presented an opportunity for a pair of Floyd County businessmen to think outside the box.

CW Porter and Mark Halbert are owners of Slope Masters, a start-up producing remote control lawnmowers.

Yes, a remote control lawnmower.

Porter and Halbert worked for years in the coal industry in the metal fabrication and electrical fields. They combined that experience to create the Slope Master product that they deem as being “mine tough.”

Slope Masters is a Blueprint Partner of Shaping Our Appalachian Region, Inc. (SOAR) and a client of SOAR Innovation, a partnership with SOAR and the Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development’s KY Innovation office. Slope Masters is working closely with SOAR Innovation Business and Innovation Brittainy Branham.

Slope Masters will be showcasing its product at the 2019 SOAR Summit on September 5-6 at the Appalachian Wireless Arena in Pikeville. You can register for the Summit HERE.
