Families in Jenkins and the surrounding area now have access to a new childcare option as Shining Stars Daycare officially opens following completion of SOAR’s Social Enterprise Accelerator (SEA) program.
Developed with support from SOAR’s SEA team, the daycare was created to help address the growing need for safe, reliable, and affordable childcare options for working families in Eastern Kentucky.
The new facility is now accepting applications for enrollment.

Access to affordable childcare continues to be one of the biggest barriers many families face when seeking employment, training opportunities, or career advancement.
By creating additional childcare capacity in the region, initiatives like this help support both children and working parents.
Childcare Services Offered
Shining Stars Daycare serves children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old and provides a structured, nurturing environment focused on learning, creativity, and development.
Services include:
- Full-time childcare
- Part-time childcare
- Saturday childcare for both enrolled and non-enrolled children
The daycare is designed to offer flexible scheduling options that better meet the needs of working families.
Families may also qualify for reduced rates through assistance programs such as CCAP or KTAP, with some eligible families paying as little as $45 per week.

Shining Stars Daycare operates:
- Monday–Friday: 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- Saturday: 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM
