The Nuclear Workforce Opportunities Program, led by Shaping Our Appalachian Region (SOAR), is connecting Eastern Kentuckians to high-wage, high-impact careers in the growing nuclear energy industry.
No prior nuclear experience is required. Individuals with backgrounds in mechanical work, construction, maintenance, or other skilled trades are encouraged to apply — as well as veterans, trade school graduates, and former miners looking to re-enter the workforce.
With wraparound support, paid training, and direct employer connections, the Nuclear Initiative Program makes it possible to start a stable, high-wage career in one of America’s most advanced industries — without leaving home.
Through partnerships with national employers like Framatome and hands-on technical training at the TEK Center, participants gain the skills, certifications, and support needed to build rewarding, travel-based careers that start right here in Eastern Kentucky.
