Center for Rural Development to host program to assist communities with Broadband

Posted on 6 years ago

The Center for Rural Development, a Blueprint Partner of Shaping Our Appalachian Region, Inc. (SOAR), will host a Broadband ReConnect Workshop on Tuesday, March 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Mountain Arts Center in Prestonsburg, Ky.

The event is an informative day of learning about the $600 million USDA ReConnect Broadband Loan and Grant Program, the Distance Learning Telemedicine Grant Program, and the Community Connect Grant Program. The Center for Rural Development will also provide information about its Technical Assistance programs for Eastern Kentucky.

Broadband is the centerpiece of SOAR’s Regional Blueprint for a 21st Century Appalachia.

“The Center for Rural Development has served as a leader in connectivity throughout Appalachia Kentucky,” said Jared Arnett, executive director of SOAR. “It is important that communities understand the resources available to them, especially as it relates to last-mile deployment efforts and fully leveraging the benefits of KentuckyWired.”
