CORBIN, Ky. – A London, England-based company has announced plans to locate to Corbin.
The Mountain-Advocate reports that Arq will locate a plant on a site previously occupied by U.S. Steel in Corbin, creating 70 jobs.
The plant will house a coal waste processing facility turning that waste into fuel. The company is expected to hire 70 employees and be fully operational in January 2020.
Industrial Recruitment is one of the seven goals outlined in SOAR’s Regional Blueprint for a 21st Century Appalachia.
“This is an exciting announcement for not only Corbin, but the entire region,” said Jared Arnett, executive director of SOAR. “Bruce [Carpenter] and the leaders in Corbin and throughout southern Kentucky continue to work together to bring new opportunities and investments into the region.”
