around the region

This week is all about out and enjoying the beautiful weather that’s coming into the region. Make sure to check out the places below.

Craving something sweet?

Craving an ice cream sundae? Check out Crave in Barbourville!

This ice cream shop and bakery serves some amazing ice cream, cinnamon rolls, apple fritters, and other sweet treats. Their muffins are a delicious sweet treat to reward yourself with after a long work week.

Not only do they offer sweat treats, coffee is also offered, with a wide variety of flavors to choose from.

They are located at the Union Plaza Shopping Center. Make sure to check them out the next time you’re in Barbourville.

A lunar rainbow

The Cumberland Falls Moonbow was featured in Southern Living this week!

A moonbow is similar to a rainbow and occurs when there is a full moon. This moonbow is one of only two in the world!

The moonbow is located in Cumberland Falls State Resort Park off Highway 90. Next time you take a trip to southern Kentucky around the time of the full moon, make sure to stop and see the moonbow!

Get your candles delivered!

Coal Country Candles is officially moving in with Appalachian Apparel on April 1st!

They are hoping this new locale will give them better visibility on Main Street and plug them into the ecosystem of Pikeville downtown. Also, they are planning to launch a subscription box! These subscription boxes will deliver candles and tarts to subscribers’ homes on a monthly basis.

All of their candles and tarts are handmade in their shop and made with 100% soy wax. They also sell essential oils, soaps, and tart warmers, to name a few.

Make sure to check them out via their website and their new location in Appalachian Apparel.

Homegrown with love

Griffith Family Farms has been bringing joy and home grown goods to the people of Johnson County for over five years now.

The farm is run by Chester Griffth and his wife and three daughters. They raise various types of animals, including goats, hogs, and several types of poultry. Along with poultry comes eggs. The farm sells eggs from their Bourbon Red Turkeys, Rhode Island Reds, Buff Orpingtons, White Leghorns, and White Rocks chickens.

Along with their meat and eggs, they also sell various types of fruits and vegetables. They just stocked up on fresh strawberries and beautiful ferns.
Check out their full story in the Paintsville Herald and stop by their farm the next time you’re in Johnson County.
