Perry County Hosts Grand Opening of Trail System

Posted on 6 years ago

Hazard, Ky. – Perry County hosted a grand opening of the new trail system Tuesday night.

This project is two and a half years in the making. A couple years ago, Perry county received a $100,000 recreational trail grant to create the trails.

Perry County Judge Executive Scott Alexander is hoping this will promote county growth.

“It gets us the exposure that we need. We’ve got an amazing trail system here that we’ve started. We’re not quitting with this one. We’re going to develop more, but we’re gonna get the attention our trails need to get people to come here,” said Alexander.

The trails are located right behind the Perry County pool.

There are about seven miles of trails that range in difficulty and length.
