PAINTSVILLE, Ky. – The East Kentucky Advanced Manufacturing Institute (eKAMI) was recently awarded $1.5 million from the Appalachian Regional Commission’s POWER (Partnerships for Opportunity and Workforce Economic Revitalization) grant program.
The grant will allow the workforce development program to expand from adult learners to recent high school graduates. Additionally, the grant will provide instruction to underutilized vocational training programs.
“eKAMI is playing a critical role in not only workforce training, but also providing a valuable resource as we work to attract new business and industry to the region,” said Jared Arnett, executive director of Shaping Our Appalachian Region, Inc. (SOAR). “I want to thank the ARC, Governor [Matt] Bevin, and Congressman [Hal] Rogers for their efforts to bring in new funding to help organizations, like eKAMI, build capacity.”
