Nationwide, Eastern Kentucky native Reed Sheppard is becoming one of the hottest names in high school basketball. Despite his increasing growth in popularity, Sheppard is not one to forget about his Eastern Kentucky roots.
The North Laurel High School senior, and recent University of Kentucky basketball signee, showed both his Big Blue and Eastern Kentucky ties Saturday when he made a $10,000 donation to our Student Support Fund. The donation came during Sheppard’s basketball camp at Millard Middle School in Pike County. That money will help support seven families in the region who were impacted by this year’s severe flooding.
Sheppard personally knows people who were affected by the flooding and has been using his platform to try to fundraise money for the cause.
SOAR’s Eastern Kentucky Student Support Fund has helped raise nearly $120,000 for students and their families in the region.
