IRS Opportunity Zones

An IRS Qualified Opportunity Zone is “an economically distressed community where new investments, under certain conditions, may be eligible for preferential tax treatment.” Residents of Eastern Kentucky can qualify as QOZs have to be nominated by a state, the District of Columbia, or a U.S. territory. The Secretary of the U.S. Treasury has to nominate the location, too.
